How was your Valentine's Day?

Early on Saturday, Mike had mentioned that he already had an idea about dinner - HE was going to cook it! He began asking me questions like "If you could pick any meat what would you want?" or "What vegetables would go with that?" or "What kind of dessert are you in the mood for?" So, I gave him a few different ideas and he hit the internet for recipes.

He told me that he was heading to the grocery and that I needed to leave the house around 4:30 and if I did come back early, not to go in the kitchen. Well, I couldn't complain with that so I ran an errand and got a pedicure and then came back and read in our room. Mike brought a "sample" (batter from thedessert on a spatula) to hold me a little bit longer.

Finally, he came to tell me that dinner was ready. He had set the table (with tablecloth, candles, and flowers) and had a beautiful plate of food! Mike had fixed ribeye steaks with sauteed onions and roasted tomatoes, baked potatoes, sauteed green beans with garlic and seseme seeds, kale chips (FANTASTIC recipe!), and rolls.

THEN, for dessert, Mike made a Chocolate Chess Pie with REAL whipped cream! What a guy!

All in all, GREAT Valentine's Day!

Mike doesn't believe me, but...

Blog-stalking works!

I happened to come across this coupon for a Buy One, Get One Free ENTREE at TGIFridays. It is good until March 1 and cannot be used today, Valentine's Day.

Well, Mike and I tried ours out last night! Not too bad to get an entree (I think our free one ended up being $16) FREE! I am always looking for discounts and free stuff.

Hope you get to enjoy a dinner at TGIFridays soon. Remember, it is only good until March 1.

I think we might try it out again between now and the end date.

Enjoy!

Beautiful Weather

I don't know about where you live but this past week at our house has been INCREDIBLE! We have had Spring-like weather since last weekend. The kind that makes you long for color, for budding trees, for blooming flowers, for shorts and flip flops, the kind that makes you remind yourself that it will not stay for long because the groundhog saw (or didn't see, I always forget which one it is!) his shadow and you are slated to have 6 more weeks of Winter...yeah, that kind of weather!

Well, we decided to get out and enjoy it a bit last weekend. We took the dogs up to Kerr Lake. They were able to run and play and tire themselves out! And, we were able to enjoy a little time too.

The sun was beautiful coming through the trees as we walked down to the lake.

Blue and Polly played SO much. They were constantly running over each other, jumping over logs, going up and down the banks, playing in the water...until...

Blue found the drop-off! Yep, one minute he was walking around and the next minute, no Blue! He went competely under and came up wide-eyed and kicking. After the split-second of fear that we were going to have to go in after him, we fell over laughing!

This picture of him looks like he was saying, "Why are you laughing at me? I could have drowned!"

Oh Blue, you keep us smiling and thankful that you are part of the fam!

It's FINALLY official!

Even though Mike participated in graduation in May, he had to complete a few more things over the summer sessions. So, he was supposed to be getting his diploma at the Winter graduation. Well, since he had already "walked" and didn't want to do that again, he opted for them to mail it to him.

Well, that graduation was in December.I happened to check at the door (where our packages are left) on Friday and noticed this envelope propped up against our front door. The package CLEARLY states DO NOT BEND. Well, that must have been hidden from our mail person's view because it was a little bent. Oh well, it's not like an important paper or anything, right!?

So, here's the cover...

And, here's the proof!!

Congratulations Mike!!

Post coming...

Sorry for the lack of posting. Hopefully, I will get one up this weekend. We've been relatively busy and when we weren't, we were outside enjoying the beautiful weather this past weekend/week.

To hold you over until this weekend, here is an amazing video. Make sure you listen to and follow the directions at the beginning of the video.

What a lesson!

It is amazing what we see or DON'T see when we are too focused on our own objectives. Sometimes the most obvious things are not obvious when we are too focused on ourselves.
