Polly and her buddies

We have some really great friends (Trent, Annette, and Aedan Peacock) who have kept Polly for us many times over the past few years when we were out of town. They have been SO great, sometimes keeping her for a day or two longer than even scheduled. Polly gets along well with their pets (2 dogs and a cat). She especially likes playing with Numu, their Airedale Terrier. Polly has become part of the family and their 3 year old son, Aedan, loves for her to come over. One of the last times that we went to pick her up, he told us that we could just come back tomorrow because he wasn't ready for Polly to go home yet! How sweet!!

Well, we knew that the Peacocks would be moving sometime. Trent finished up his PhD work and has signed up to go back into the ARMY full time. Well, they received their orders this past week and are moving to Ft. Hood, TX! We are SO bummed!! Not only are we losing great friends but Polly is losing a great family too.

I asked Annette to send me some of the pictures that she has taken of Polly and Aedan during her stay. Here are a few:

Videos from Dinner with the Gainors

For those of you who have ever downloaded videos to your BLOG, you will appreciate! WOW!

Dinner with the Gainors

On Thursday night, the Gainors stopped by for dinner. We are sure glad they are back in the States and we were able to visit with them. The Gainors lived in Slovakia for 2 years. You may remember that Mike and I visited them in November. They are moving to Bluffton, SC to work with Crosspoint Church to plant churches in the Bluffton/Hilton Head area. Here are a few pictures.

Fun Weekend with Old Friends

This weekend we went down to Athens, GA to visit with Miriam's friends from SWAT. We had a reunion of sorts with SWAT leaders from the past 15 years. We were able to hang out and catch up and watch a lot of football. We were able to watch the GA game on the big screen with some friends at Jon's house.

Happy 4th!

We hope you had a happy 4th of July! We are so privileged to live in a free country. We are so thankful for the men and women who have fought and continue to fight and die for our freedoms! Some of the men and women, including Mike's brother, Mark, who have given their lives more recently for our freedom have been remembered in a book entitled Faces of Freedom by Rebecca Pepin. ALL proceeds from the sale of this book will go to Fisher House and Wounded Warrior Project. We are thankful for this remembrance and honor for our soldiers.

Our 4th consisted of doing a little around the house while Mike prepared ribs and got them on the grill early. We enjoyed dinner with our friends, Codey and Laura, and filled ourselves to the top (with ribs, corn, pasta salad, cole slaw, gilled onions, and potato wedges)! And then ate homemade ice cream to fill in any extra spaces! After dinner, we met more friends, Joe and Abby, in Raleigh to watch fireworks. What a fun evening. And all possible because of our freedoms.

Lake Norman

We were able to go to Lake Norman last weekend with our friends, Josh and Bianca, to do a little wakeboarding, tubing, and just hanging out. Check out some of the pictures from the trip!
