Fun at Little River, SC

This past weekend we went down to Little River, SC to our friend's parents condo on the Intercoastal Waterway. We had a great weekend of jet skiing in the ocean, hanging out on a little island and having fun together.

Mike took Polly over to his parents on Friday so they could keep her while we were gone. Then, we headed down to Little River.

On Saturday, we went out for a morning of jet skiing. We jumped waves in the ocean and went for a walk on an island. Then after lunch, we went down to Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach. The guys went to watch the movie, Transformers, while the girls went to see an Imax film and walked around the shopping area at Broadway. We joined up for dinner at Liberty Steakhouse.

Miriam and Sarah walked through a lot of the shops and stopped to try on some fun sunglasses.

On Sunday, we went out for another morning of fun jet skiing. We took the jet skiis out to a couple of shrimp boats and got to see about 30 dolphins swimming behind the boat waiting on a little snack. What a cool experience! Then, we hung out on the island with the kite and frisbee and watched a few jet skiis jumping the waves. After lunch and clean-up, we headed back to Raleigh.

Happy 4th!

We hope you had a happy 4th of July! We are so privileged to live in a free country. We are so thankful for the men and women who have fought and continue to fight and die for our freedoms! Some of the men and women, including Mike's brother, Mark, who have given their lives more recently for our freedom have been remembered in a book entitled Faces of Freedom by Rebecca Pepin. ALL proceeds from the sale of this book will go to Fisher House and Wounded Warrior Project. We are thankful for this remembrance and honor for our soldiers.

Our 4th consisted of doing a little around the house while Mike prepared ribs and got them on the grill early. We enjoyed dinner with our friends, Codey and Laura, and filled ourselves to the top (with ribs, corn, pasta salad, cole slaw, gilled onions, and potato wedges)! And then ate homemade ice cream to fill in any extra spaces! After dinner, we met more friends, Joe and Abby, in Raleigh to watch fireworks. What a fun evening. And all possible because of our freedoms.

Vacation 2007

Mike and I went to Harkers Island, NC for a little vacation this past week (Monday, June 25 - Friday, June 29). We had a great time on the island hanging out together on the beach, relaxing, and kayaking.

Monday, we got to the island and found our house for the week. We ate a little lunch and checked out the island. Then, we decided to take out the kayak (that we borrowed from Mike's brother and sister-in-law) for a little "test drive."

Tuesday, we took The Local Yokel Ferry over to Cape Lookout. We got to see some of the wild horses on the way over. Here are some of the pictures from Tuesday.
