Birth Verse

I received the following link in an email this week. I thought it was pretty cool and wanted to share. Apparently, "they" (whoever created this website) came up with a verse for each day of the year. You can insert your birth day and month and it will show your "birth verse."

From the website:
You are a child of God, His treasured possession. He created you in His own image. He chose the day for you to be born. He has a plan and a purpose for your life...

BIRTHVERSE consists of 366 verses chosen from the 66 books of the Bible. Each verse correlates the chapter and verse with its month and day.

Try yours and see what verse appears for your birthday! It is also fun to put in the birthday of your family and friends to see what their verses are.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL???

I sure am!! I love being able to watch college football...especially AUBURN! Just checked the AP Poll and Auburn is ranked #10. Yeah, yeah...I know who is #1 but that won't last long, hopefully!

We're enjoying some Thursday night football tonight - NC State vs. South Carolina. Although we don't really care much about the game, we're still watching...just because it's college football and it is on!

Ashe Co Armed Forces Tribute 2008

The 3rd annual Ashe Co Armed Forces Tribute was held this past weekend in Jefferson, NC. As part of the tribute, Mike's brother, Mark, was honored. Rebecca Pepin, author of Faces of Freedom, helped to MC the event. During the program, we were able to contact by satellite members of the Army and Marines who are presently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. People in the audience were encouraged to ask questions and some family members were even able to talk with their soldier.

Booths were set up on the field, along with a Black Hawk helicopter, jeeps from WWII, the Marine band, and a memorial wall. Members of the 82nd Airborne parachuted in during the morning and also during the afternoon. After lunch, the Black Hawk took off from the field and did a "fly by". The entire event honored Veterans and Active Duty soldiers. What a privilege to be a part of this tribute.

Updates

Well, I had some time to update the blog today after a crazy week but left the camera cord at home. So, no pictures just yet.

Here are some updates from the week though:
  • Mike finished and passed Spanish! So, college is officially OVER for him! Diploma should be in the mail sometime...
  • Still waiting on job offers. Mike has heard back from a few things and has sent his resume out some more this week. We're hoping something comes soon. Nothing as of yet though.
  • Kitchen update #2 - We (meaning Mike) laid new tile in the kitchen this week. Pictures to come. Hopefully we will get it all cleaned tonight and the appliances back in place. No cooking or washing all week due to the stove and washer and dryer being in the middle of the kitchen! Boy, have I got a lot to catch up on this weekend!!
  • Blue continues to gain about 10 lbs a day. Well, not really, but he is pretty big. He is SO much more laid back than Polly was so that is a blessing, especially with his size. I hope to take him to be weighed sometime in the near future to see just exactly how much he weighs.
  • Bec and David moved into their NEW house this week!! Congrats on the new house...can't wait to see it sometime soon.
  • We're loving the Olympics this week! Go USA!
  • We are officially getting "fruit" from our garden. Squash/zucchini and okra didn't make it...bummer! A couple of tomatoes have finally ripened and we also have some chili peppers. I did see a couple of jalapenos last night that are growing slowly but surely. Homemade salsa will be arriving shortly.

Well, that is about it for now. I'll try to get some pictures posted this weekend.

Puppy Playtime

So, who was supposed to be updating the blog now that they got a new camera...oops!

Well, last night, 2 of Polly's puppies came over to play with her and Blue. One looked a lot like Polly and one looked like Blue. Kind of cool to have 4 weims in the yard together. Our neighbors came out one time and did a double take. They said that they thought we just had 2! Here are a few pictures of the playtime. Not much luck getting them to stay still for a photo.

My sisters are coming to play?!?

I'll be good!

And we can get Frosty Paws for a snack later too?!

So, where are they??

I remember this tree! (the puppies would run to these trees and hang out when we took them outside)

Ring around the rosie...

Polly was getting worn out. She isn't a "spring puppy" like she used to be!

Enjoying Frosty Paws for a snack after playtime - They were so tired but still enjoyed!

Boy, were they pooped out after all that fun!
