More Vacation 2007

Wednesday was our "adventurous" day. We took the kayak out for an all day paddling. We hopped to different islands around the area and stopped along the way on what felt like our private islands since no one was around. We had lunch at one island and then went over to Shackleford Banks and came across a few horses, then we hung out on a sandbar out in the sound for a while before going over to Cape Lookout. Altogether, we paddled 7.5 miles! (And Mike doubted me!! I have to say I had second thoughts about the trip but was pleasantly surprised with myself!) Here are a few pictures.

After dinner at the well-known seafood restaurant, The Sanitary, in Morehead City, NC, we came back to the island and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

Thursday, we decided to catch the ferry from Cedar Island over to Ocracoke Island where we spent our honeymoon almost 4 years ago. To our surprise, Dr. Beach's pick for America's best beach of 2007, was a bit more crowded than the quaint island just 4 years ago. I guess the recognition helped the tourism. We kind of liked it better when people didn't know about Ocracoke though! Let's hope it doesn't get too populated in the years to come...

Each ferry represents one of the colleges/universities on North Carolina. We happened to be on the UNC Chapel Hill boat going over to Ocracoke.

Friday after packing up and leaving from the house, we headed over to Beaufort, NC for lunch and walked around a little bit and of course, ended up at the General Store for hand-dipped ice cream! Then, we headed back to pick up Polly from Mike's parents. I don't know who was more excited to see us...Phillip and Rene' or Polly!

Retirement Possibility?!?
