Mark Adams Holiday Classic

Just catching up a bit on our most recent activities...

Each year, just before Christmas, Cary High School hosts the Mark Adams Holiday Classic Wrestling Tournament.  This year, 29 teams from all over NC participated which made it the largest year.  The tournament gives wrestlers one last tournament before the year ends and an opportunity to wrestle with teams they may not otherwise wrestle in the regular season.

Although Cary has hosted this tournament for many years, the name was changed to honor Mark, Mike's brother, who gave his life in Iraq in 2005.  Mike's parents are still very active with the wrestling community in the Raleigh/Durham area and we always make it a priority to include the Holiday Classic in our Christmas events.  Each year, the family has the honor of passing out the trophies to the winners in each weight class and spending time with current and former wrestlers throughout the 2 day tournament.

The family also has a foundation that was started in Mark's honor and one of the goals is to organize and host Christian based wrestling camps and clinics.  A common theme throughout all of the Sgt Mark Adams events is "Turning Tragedy into Triumph".  The hope is to turn what Satan meant for evil into something God can use for good.  It is amazing to hear how many people, especially high school students, have turned their lives over to Christ just by being impacted by these camps, clinics and tournaments!
